Domain names are part of a system called Domain Name Service (DNS), which provides you with an easy-to-remember address. The DNS actually converts the domain name (e.g. YourDomain.com) into an Internet Protocol (IP) number (e.g. 194.127.353.13), etc... Domain names enable Internet users to type in a name, such as MyFavoriteWebSite.com, rather than to type in an IP address (which might look like this: 64.154.34.175), to reach the web site of their choosing.
